SAN JOSE (April 25, 2018) – Element Three, a full-service marketing agency based in Indianapolis, has won a 2018 Stackie award for a movie-themed visualization of its marketing technology stack. The award given at the MarTech® conference in San Jose, Calif. was one of five Stackies selected from 54 entries.

“On the surface, it’s very lighthearted and fun,” Scott Brinker, MarTech Conference Program Chair, said of the Element Three entry. “But the insight on time spent in the tools, I thought, was just brilliant.

This marks the first time that Element Three has competed in The Stackies, and they are the first Indianapolis marketing agency to claim the coveted award. Previous Stackie winners include Microsoft, Cisco, Aprimo, Uberflip and Red Wing Shoes.

“As our agency continues to lean into Marketing Technology, it only made sense to participate in this year’s Stackies,” said Dustin Clark, Digital Marketing Director for Element Three. “We were determined to go at this hard and capture the same sophistication and creativity we use when solving these kinds of challenges for clients, and it’s awesome to see some recognition for that.”

Other 2018 Stackies winners were BlackRock, Cisco, Janus Henderson, and Earth Networks. Two Element Three clients, Airstream and Thor Industries, each garnered an Honorable Mention, for their visualizations as an adventure roadmap and nighttime constellation respectively.

“Our win in a competition dominated by best-in-class enterprise technology providers showcases the types of problems our clients expect us to help them solve,” shared Aaron Harrison, Marketing Manager for Element Three. “It’s not enough to focus on the strategies that fit under the conventional marketing umbrella. Marketing agencies need to be addressing the entire customer lifecycle and the operations our clients must adopt in order to manage it.”

Now in its fourth year, Stackie entrants compete in visualizing the “stack” of all the marketing technology tools they use in their day-to-day operations. This involves identifying the components, thinking strategically about how everything fits together, and crafting a creative visual that communicates the stack’s infrastructure and capabilities. Entries are judged by the editorial staff from chiefmartec.com and MarTech Today, as well as independent industry experts, on five criteria:

  • Alignment of the stack to the business
  • Insightfulness of the concept
  • Clarity of the concept
  • Visual appeal of the design
  • Depth of detail

For every entry, MarTech® donates $100 to Girls in Tech, a non-profit that empowers girls and women who are interested in technology. Element Three is matching this donation for the entries it submitted for itself and behalf of three of its clients.
