93 Idea Starters for Marketing Blog Posts

Every writer at some point has faced that uneasy feeling of scrambling to come up with something to write about. Whether you’re a newspaper reporter preparing to share your latest story ideas with your impatient editor, or a copywriter struggling to come up with a timely blog topic, you undoubtedly know the feeling.

So what can you do about it? Do some research for a rainy day. Just like a reporter can plant the seeds of future reporting by working his sources, a marketer can lay the groundwork for future posts through keyword research, chats with colleagues and good old-fashioned brainstorming.

You can also use your website analytics to revisit some of the topics that have proven most popular on your blog. That’s where this post came from – updating a 2012 post by our President Tiffany Sauder about 20 White Paper & Blog Topic Idea Starters that remains one of our most viewed posts.

So here are my creative seeds; they’re certainly not intended to be blog post titles – just idea starters loosely divided into six categories. In creating my list, I spent about an hour coming up with as many blog post ideas as I could. Over the course of that hour, I scrolled through some old keyword and blog topic lists that I’d created using Google Keyword Planner and Google Sheets – research related to a variety of areas ranging from branding to digital strategy.
