Annual scholarship recognizes Herron student who best embodies all the elements of true marketing design

INDIANAPOLIS (October 24, 2018) – Element Three, Indiana’s largest full-service marketing agency, announces today that IUPUI Herron School of Art and Design Senior Caila Lutz is the recipient of this year’s Marcia Stone Creative Swagger Scholarship.

The Creative Swagger Scholarship is awarded each year to a Herron School of Art and Design student who is determined to represent all elements of true marketing design: artistry, marketing savvy, storytelling, empathy, and fearlessness. First offered in 2016, the Scholarship is named after Element Three’s first Director of Brand and former Herron lecturer, Marcia Stone.

Said Element Three President Tiffany Sauder, “Marcia Stone was such an influential role model to me and to the rest of the Element Three team in the early days of our agency. When Marcia retired, we wanted to create something to honor her contribution to the agency and we knew she would most want us to do that by paying opportunity forward for young creative talent.”

“I’m doubly honored to have Caila receive this year’s scholarship — and to have it given to her in my name by Element Three,” shared Marcia Stone, the award’s namesake. “In my experience, both Herron and Element Three are places where true marketing creativity springs forth—right here in Indianapolis.”

Recipients are selected each year by members of the Herron School of Art and Design Faculty and Staff. For her part, Lutz, who is working to determine her post-graduation plans as she finishes out her final year in school, sees both Stone and the scholarship as an inspiration to continue to work hard toward her own ambitious dreams.

“Receiving the Marcia Stone Creative Swagger Scholarship means more to me than just financial assistance, which is also very helpful when paying for college,” said Lutz. “This scholarship is recognition for the hard work I have put into manifesting four years of visual design into my passion and career. It stands for the commitment and dedication I’ve put into each project with the mindset to develop new skills along the way while thinking outside the box. It is a reminder that hard work will be noticed and to never give up on your goals. I am honored to receive this award, for it stands for all the qualities Marcia Stone possesses. The ability to have a goal, to achieve it, and impact the community by creating something different. Element Three’s scholarship has provided me with the reassurance that my time studying at Herron has been full of growth and it inspires me to create, give, and learn.”
